First Floating Solar Power Installation in Tainan has an Annual Power GenerationThe Department of Economic Development of Tainan City has completed the first floating solar power installation on a flood detention pond of the Yongkang Technology Industrial Park in Tainan. The facility went into operation last month and is expected to generate 120,000 kWh per year coupled with a reduction of carbon emissions by 64,000 kg.
The department states that the park service center signed a contract with Hengs Technology, a photovoltaic system provider in the park area, on May 12 to transform the Yongkang Technology Industrial Park into a green energy zone. Engineering methods of local manufacturers were employed under the premise that the functions of the flood detention pond remain unaffected. In other words, all materials, equipment, and designs are MIT (Made in Taiwan). The installation process for the floating power facility in a Tainan industrial zone was completed on October 26. Grid connection has also been completed and the generated electricity is sold to Taipower (installed capacity of 101kW).
